Following a number of complaints, the City of Toronto Ombudsman has begun an investigation into how Toronto Paramedic Services handles incidents of operational stress injuries (OSI) among its staff, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

The City of Toronto Ombudsman Fiona Crean said her office has accomplished a great deal in its first five years, advancing fairness at City Hall and changing attitudes throughout the City’s administration. The Ombudsman today released “Advocating for Fairness,” her 2014 Annual Report, which highlighted the improvements made to city services since her office opened in 2009.

The City of Toronto Ombudsman Fiona Crean says there’s been a significant growth in the number of residents with problems about local government and delivery of their city services. In her 2013 Annual Report released today, Toronto’s Ombudsman says her staff dealt with 1827 complaints in 2013, an increase of 28% over the year before.
